In 2016, Paul sold everything and moved to a remote island off the Queensland coast. There, he fell in love, started a family and chose a life most people wouldn’t: leaving the island behind for a caravan, the hills, and a life outside the traditional 9-to-5.
But it wasn’t long before the bills caught up.
Paul found himself living the very trap he would eventually help others escape — earning a good income, doing everything “right”, yet still being only one bad month away from financial pressure.
What started as an effort to solve his own family’s growing stack of debt became something much bigger: The Great Aussie Mortgage Escape.

Is this actually free, or is there a catch?
It's free. We're an education service, not a lender — we map your situation and build your plan at no cost, full stop.
How do you actually get paid, if this is free for us?
Call us nostalgic, but we believe in the good old-fashioned version of referrals — a bit like sitting round the campfire. When you refer a mate to someone you trust, you're saying "this place is great, they'll look after you." We're the same. Our strength is education and strategy, and we like to keep that free — so when we refer you on, that business simply puts some of their marketing budget behind us, same as they'd spend on any other marketing. We're not loyal to just one, so it's always about the right fit for you. We educate you first — once you understand your own situation, whether you use their services is entirely your call.
How is this different from what our mortgage broker already offers?
A huge difference. A typical mortgage broker's job is to get you a loan — and at best, talk about consolidating. But consolidating is only half the picture, and in most cases it'll cost you tens, even hundreds of thousands of dollars more over the life of your loan. We educate you first, on the whole picture, before anything's set up — and once it is, that's not the finish line for us, that's where our job actually begins.
Do we have to sell the caravan, the boat, or cut back on our lifestyle?
